In Oakland there are 145k african americans.

Or with the 145K in Oakland?

Harassed - never
Questioned - I've been questioned once, and I did feel it was racially motivated, but this was in a very rich "white" town with one black police officer on the entire force.
Detained - never
Charges - never

I'm a brother who lived in that same rich "white" town for many years and had dread locks down my back.
Oh yeah, and one of those very white police officers saved my life after a life threatening motorcycle accident.

In all the time I've been on Mye28, which is since day two way back when, I have never seen any deliberate race or ethnic insults, with the exception of self disparaging comments. The only exception to that was when someone from another country used a term that was acceptable there, but not here in the US, and he quickly apologized when it was explained to him.

Soooooo, in that context, and knowing how few people actually know each other in person, I doubt any racial/ethnic insults were intended. Now there have been plenty of personal insults, especially around things political or social, but no racial/ethnic.

Just my .02 about intentions.

It's a two way street.
One way runs towards admitting when wrong, asking to be forgiven, then refraining from repeating the offense.
The opposite direction, which is the harder road to travel, is granting forgiveness whether it's been asked for or not.
