I sent an email to Extrude Hone in Irwin Pa about a group buy on extrude honeing the intake manifolds for the M30. I recieved a response yesterday. Normally $650.00 if we get six or more the cost comes down to $333.00. Turn around time is "about two weeks" according to thier marketing department.

If five of you are interested I'd be willing to be the sixth, but if six of you are interested I may step out. I'd still handle the whole thing and deal with Extrude Hone at no cost.

I'm going to mention this to my six series brethren as well. You can read more about the benefits of extrude hone powerflow intakes here: http://www.extrudehone.com/powerflow.html

If you are interested send me an email at: johnhfutch at gmail dot com

I didn't ask about extrude honing heads or exhaust manifolds but I can if there is any interest.

I'll mull this over, it's a very good deal. :p

Can you supply us with finer details? Such as amount to be removed, surface finish, and other information that I might not know enough to ask about? :?

Ill try to get some more info from Extrude Hone. In the mean time here is what google turned up:

Good article about some [S]four banger POS[/S] Nissan: http://www.se-r.net/about/200sx/scc/nov98/

Before and after pics of thier intake (poor quality photos):

From an article in [S]some crappy riceburner magazine called [/S] Super Street: http://www.superstreetonline.com/techarticles/3227/
Depending on the condition and quality of the original casting, the amount of metal removal ranges from .030 to .060 inch. Measured airflow improvements have been up to 25 percent and higher depending, again, on the original condition of the engine component

Here's some more before and after pics from [S]an american POS riceburner[/S] dodge neon SRT-4. http://www.modernperformance.com/dcx/sr ... fold.shtml

Just to clarify something real quick, I'm not trying to make any money off of this, not affiliated with Extrude Hone. If there is not sufficient interested it won't hurt my feelings at all. I'll try to answer all questions as they come up but "I ain't no genius" but I'll do the best I can.

Wow. The price drop alone is a great deal!

Unless you have a ported head, this will do nothing for you.

$333 is not so bad though. Buy an E34 M30 head and you are most of the way there for $50.

This is the mods I had to do the a M30B35 manifold.

And remember, I was getting 260 HP form this engine with this manifold.

You beat me to it -- I was about to say that. Basically the intake manifold will be all ported out and such, but it still has to go through the same small hole on the head, basically giving no gains.

To take full advantage of extrude hone you would need a ported head as a minimum. I would recommend MAF conversion, Big bore throttle body, ported head, bigger valves-intake and exhaust, higher lift cam, headers and free flow exhaust. If you have this or are planning on doing these mods you should consider extrude honing.

I also think it would marginally beneficial on a forced induction engine. Anyone else agree?

Duke-don't you have an engine to finish so I can start making "blow-hard" jokes.

I'd be doing this on a B35 manifold on which I will eventually install both a MAF AND MegaSquirt engine control hardware and software. I might not see improvement initially, at some point I would, and the deal is for now. :p

You don't need the MAF with the Megasquirt, that is one of the best features. That and the fact that the whole setup costs less than a MAF conversion.

I'm in, thanks for the thought of a group buy, you do need to port your head and run a larger cam to take full
advantage of this......it smooths the entire length of the intake tube giving you a better flow......

It would be the most pointless waste of money dude -- seriously.
