1985 bmw 528e turbo? maybe? other possibilities..

So I am debating on wheather to pick up this 528e.

Here is what he said about the car (ill put it in dark red so you can figure out which is what)


december 08-new brakes, new radiator january 08-new front right headlight, replaced cracked intake boot, timing belt, flushed cooling system,
November 07-new tires and allignment november 06-clutch replacment
have been doing oil changes myself every 2000 miles. I have all the service records if you want to take a look.

Some more info about the car: AC doesnt work
front flex disc needs replacement due to wear. part is $150 new.
Passed smog this year in April.
If you want you can come by and take a look. I'm trying to get rid of it ASAP before I go to college.

I am sure I can get the guy down to $500 or $600.

I will definately be looking for more power. Possibly a turbo?
Okay i know i know eta car with turbo?... weird. But I think it would be cool.


Are there any California legal turbos I would be able to put on this car?

If not I read some about a 325i head swap. Would this be more practical?

How hard is the front flex disk to replace?

The flex disc is very easy to replace, and it's a lot cheaper than $150. It should take you half an hour to change it. When you change it, use new bolts and anti-seize. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-1772- ... guibo.aspx

Also, I'm eventually going to turbo my 528e, but it's going to be a low pressure setup, more for fun than any actual performance.

Oh wow that is an easy one.

I found a thread he posted on this forum with his car for sale and he forgot to mention a few things that are wrong with the car.

here they are.

The Bad:
AC doesnt work
cruise control doesnt work
needs new front flex disc
needs new master brake cylinder
tranny needs new bearings
selling without speakers

The AC is not much bother i guess.

How much will a brake master cylinder run me along with new tranny bearings.

Im guessing these are a little bit more difficult problems right?
