Compressor sizing question.

What happens when the compressor is too small? I'm just thinking out aloud how the car will run with a small turbo attched to it.

I still haven't done anything with my turbo kit.

I followed this online calculator with my compressor, 48mm TO4B-S3 (seen below), ~5500rpms seems to be the boundry of the map.

This is at ~8psi for a m30b35

The far right region of the map is called the choke region. This will cause a significant increase in turbine shaft speed which is detrimental to the longevity of the turbo. Also, you efficiency has completely gone to hell. It's not something you want to do. If this is at 8psi, you have NO room to grow.

okay, well the previous owner says the car made 210rwkw at 12 psi and maximum boost was 15 psi.

Boost is adustable from 4 to 15 psi via a EBC.

So what does that mean anyway? The intake temperatures will increase too much?

That turbo seems waaay to small. I made over 225kW at 8psi on a properly sized turbo. I'm also sure that his intake temps were probably way hotter than they needed to be for the boost level he was running.
