HiNick's M30B32turbo E34 build with picture bombs!

First off, here's my thread from bfc:

Second, here's the car before the build, previously M50B25. (Don't be hatin' cause I don't got E28

So, here's the project for the engine, I've done quite some stuff, so we're kind of jumping into it here.

Going for Haltech standalone and 92lb/s injectors from five-o.

All the bearings and gaskets are new, it's completely overhauled, and sandblasted. Piano threads are machined in ass swell, and pistons have been shaved 1mm off the top

The beauty as it is atm, sorry for the quality on some pics, iphone 3gs cam

Parts which have been torn down to last molecule, checked and sandblasted, here's some of them drying the primer

Some parts painted, this is first stroke of paint, red spots are gone now

745i manifold, small crack, doesn't look like a biggie, got it for pack of beer off a friend, so I'll see if this holds up

The turbo of choice:

When the manifold and turbo have different flanges, you gotta make it yourself

This is earlier, putting together the head after a good machine wash and checkup

Intercooler needs it space, so some cutting was needed

It's going off for a thural cleaning of course.
Also I'm going to paint it, thinkin black matte to make it more discreet.

Not sure what it is, might be ebay

Initial plan was 12psi, after it's run in and tuned for that, I'll have to see where I go from there tbh, kinda want to head up to the 17psi range, but don't want to push it too far either

It does look like an ebay turbo but the build is really nice. Hopefully it holds up well for you. If not, you can always rebuild/upgrade.

I really like the black engine paint scheme. Definitely keep us updated!

I'm hoping it won't quit on me either

I'm liking it as well, guess there'll be a few more colors to it when I get the hoses for the IC and stuff fitted, together with the WG, red injectors and stuff

Would have been better off running the M50 with a turbo IMO.

Thats definitely a knock off turbo. Usually found on ebay, made in China. Sometimes they work, sometimes they grenade. Who knows what kind of flow or boost they're good for. I wouldn't touch one.

Now, I think I would've been better off with it ass swell, I've learned alot about engines and how they work since I started this thing

Nick, you're getting bombed hard by the Shawn D. auto correct! Go back and look at all the times you typed "a s w e l l." It turns as well into ass swell if you don't type a space between "s" and "w".

Took a few pictures today, of both the workshop and the stand-alone

My little magic box, with loom. Just finished wiring this up few days ago.

The engine as it is atm, and a little model I built for some school presentation thing at work:

About a quarter of the tools at hand, also have workshop with a lathe (correct?), sand(glass)blaster, ace/oxy blowtorch etc.

Chemicals, paint, mostly stuff you don't want to drink

It's actually my workshop where I work, at a petrochemical industry as an automatician.
Being able to have my engine there is just a little benefit

I'm glad I can amuse you!

My knowledge on tranny's and clutches are limited I'm afraid, so I come to you in search for wiser answers than those in my head

Any idea what clutch and pressure plate I can use that will hold?
I got single mass flywheel obv.
IIRC a M5 E34 pressure plate will bolt up on this? So if I'm not mistaken I need a kit for an M5?

The car the engine came from:

I dug up these today, it's from when my first E34 caught on fire while I was driving to work, this was about 100 feet from the parking lot.

This was all that was left for me, a front emblem and my keys

Then I looked at a mood picture to get my back to happy times

Get a hold of Todd at TCD about the clutch. He's got a special disc that Clutch Masters makes for him. I haven't installed mine yet, but I spoke with him on the phone about it and he is pretty confident in its capabilities. That's more than I can say about my Spec ceramic puck clutch.

pressurized e85 is much more fun

Checked out his stage 3 kit for M30, been drooling on that for some time, but delivered here in norway is about $925-975

I'll have a chat with him, is he on here?

Those nutty Fins can get like 700RWHP out of a Mercedes 5-cylinder diesel. That seems like a ton of fun to me. One guy on this board is building his E28 524td with some of the craziest mods to an M21 I've ever seen. I'm trying to play copy-cat with my diesel.
