My 72lbers seem fine, MS is built to run lo-z and i suggest taking advantage of it. I know peter florance does this as well (I slapped his peak and hold settings into my msq)

Do you mind sharing what MS setup you have and how you have your board set up? In my short research on switching to low-z, it looks like there is still some controversy on how to properly set up a v3 board. Am I better off sending my MS unit into Peter?

I have a v3.57 identical to yours. I just changed the settings in software, nothing done in hardware. No resistors, just peak and hold. v3 and v3.57 (SMD) both already include the anti-flyback circuit.


The issue is noise, generally. I have my CPS wire running outside of the loom and with a dedicated ground and have no sync loss.

For noise issues with a few wires, separating them from the others (as mentioned) and covering them with a grounded shield ( the braided type found on coaxial cable) would be the way to go. The braided shield will prevent noise going into or out of the shielded cable. You can buy the braid in rolls.

Awesome, I appreciate your help. Now, the big question; can you email me the injectors settings and what injectors you are using with those settings?

I just got all my parts back from the machine shop.

Ali's engine has been torn down, hot tanked, decked and honed. I had the TCD mani ceramic coated this time around. With the help of Paul B. I had b35 valves cut into the b34 head and also had the head planed. The new Paul B. cam is waiting in the box ready for installation.

Glad to see it's being put to good use. Can't imagine why anyone would build a forced induction motor without first taking this precautionary step. Some people must enjoy replacing head gaskets.

The MLS is very reliable in the hands of a competent builder. I just saw an e24 I built 6 years ago at Tedfest, Left the shop with a 1 bar spring and has not been touched since.

I have personally only had one go in 7 years and it was due to a cracked b35 block.

My car has ran 4 years on both the MLS and stock gasket. The MLS ran at 20psi and the stocker at 15. I have yet to experience a headgasket failure.

With the engine I'm building now, I think this will be the perfect test bed to find the stock headgasket and o-ringed block boost pressure limits.

I like the color scheme. It's an inverse of the Cummins ISX I've got on the dyno at work. I'm glad your car is making progress.

How are those engines doing? I got out of the field right before the 2010 emissions. The N14 brings back fonder memories of working on diesels before there were DOCs, DPFs, EGR and urea. I suppose cleaner engines is better, but good lord did it make for some pissed off fleets and owner ops!

Nice. Hard to go wrong with black and red. I'm going with something similar, even have the same VC. From top to bottom: black VC, silver head, red block, silver pan. Can't wait to see everything together.

They seem to be reliable with few mechanical, engine hardware problems. We also have seen some issues crop with with all of the components you mention. Albeit, we are abusing the hell out of these engines and trying to get stuff to fail. I am definitely aware of how upset customers are when aftertreatment parts fail. Most couldn't care less how clean the engine is, they just want it to be reliable and cost effective.

We ran a large (12L) HD natural gas engine (city bus application) with urea injection, OC and SCR. It had all sorts of problems which included SCR catalyst poisoning. Crazy stuff.

Any reason not to use stainless for orings? Copper and aluminum are very soft.

Precisely why you use them for O rings. They deform to fill the gaps. We use copper gaskets for vacuum chambers that need to get down to 10^-8 mbar.
