I'm not new to repairing diesels by any degree, but balancing fuel air and timing for optimal performance is a new art to me.
Diesels are simple beasts, more fuel + more air + more power. Well, where is the power? I've got my fuel screw turned up a bit, fuel pin rotated, star wheel adjusted to give me all the fuel I could want for takeoff. I get a ton of black smoke on hard acceleration but there is no power to speak of..not even really when the turbo kicks in.
Leads me to think timing is the culprit here? My sensor injector is shot, so it isn't even metering that. By the sound of it, its a little advanced (pinging/clacking) -- shouldn't that be good for more power? I don't have a timing dial (yet) to do the pump timing but I think that is my next investment. The only other thing I can think of is injectors, one of mine is weeping at the seam and combustion gases are escaping around the seal of another one.. I'm sure they could use some new nozzles.
To give you guys an idea, I drove a 300D N/A the other day that made my car feel like riding a bicycle.

actually you cant do anything before you have tools for timing...
after that you can think other problems... if needed...
DONT!!! try your engine before right timing...
my friend blowed out head gasket with wrong timing...
use 0.90mm timing... that is common timing with 12mm rotorhead
there is many reasons for smoking... one is that lda unit... in stock engine it starts increase under boost fuel volume about in 0.2bar... which is way too early with 12mm rotorhead
so let me know what happens when you get correct timing...
be careful with those leaky injectors.... tighten those before they burn holes/cracks to your cylhead
your engine should sound like mine in this vid if timing is about 0.90-1.2mm

No, I didn't rebuild them.. I pulled my sensor injector out to try to solve the fuel leak. I poptested them to confirm my suspicions.
I have a few feelers out right now in other forums to confirm/deny whether or not GM 6.2L nozzles will fit... soon as I get a reply I will order either GM nozzles or 524 nozzles
