Best Race Video Ever!
Mr. T/A got his ass handed to him! x2 :p
I really take pleasure when a Camaro/firebird/T/A gets whupped. Those guys usually have an ego the size of Montana...
It does sound good, though. Not as good as a Mustang, IMO, but good nontheless...
That's hardly getting your ass handed to you. That T/A runs 11.54@120mph. That's how amazing the Benz is!

I think the T/A picked the wrong race. He may have been able to smoke the MB guy from a standstill, if he could get traction! That 11.54 is on drag slicks, no doubt.
I have respect for Camaros/ T/A, etc. They can make some serious HP and torque. But they just seem to draw a different crowd of drivers. They tend to be kind of arrogant. At least around here. Kinda guys you don't want to make eye contact with, unless you want them to say: "What are you lookin at?!?" I saw a guy the other day cruising his SS with a plate that said: "CUH82BU", or: "I see you hate to be you." Sometimes guys like that just need to eat a little crow.

I'm not sure, but did the Camaro break?
Anyway, I think the race was pretty good, not sure about the "best ever", but entertaining. I throw the rap music out and get more engine sound in. It's my opinion that the Camaro was good with low end torque, the Benz with high end hp. Thats just the difference in the way that the engines are built. By the video, the Camaro was down150hp at the top end ~0 So that race makes perfect sense.
???WHAT??? You see $179k Mercs every day? %) %) %)
For you people that don't live in South Florida, all the mostly retired rich people that live in the snow belts "winter" in Florida. I live near Jupiter Island and drive past Palm Beach all the time. Every day this time of year I will see $150K+ cars cruising down the roads when I drive to work (in the past few days a Carrera GT, Bentley Arnage, Bentley GT, Aston Martin Vanquish, Maseratti Coupe and countless Ferraris). And in my opinion the AMG CL Mercs look just like your regular CL500; plus the CLs look big and ugly, the SLs are so much nicer looking. A family friend has an SL65 and that is one hell of a car. He's let me drive the car around-- the acceleration is ungodly, yet smooth. His wife only has an SL55 to tool around in...

Hmm...not too surprising given the recent review on that M-B I read in one of the major auto mags. That thing is a sleeper for sure...perhaps the ultimate autobahn cruiser (luxury GT). Let's face it...the T/A is a brute and is nowhere near as refined or as sophisticated in terms of engineering as the AMG CL65.
So, who was blowing the horn? The M-B driver or the T/A driver? I couldn't tell. Any idea where this was filmed? Florida or California?
Cheers,
Tim

you turn a rolling street race into a gangsta ghetto movie???? I don't get the seguay on that one. It must be the age thing again. Why was Kit missing so bad on the top end?

Ron, that's got to be one of the greatest TV shows in the world, along with Miami Vice and MacGyver!
I think KITT -- two T's, thank you very much -- lost, because Michael Knight didn't have him in the new Pursuit mode!

the MB didn't pull it as bad as I thought it should........
Watching the Mercedes made me think about my girlfriends 190e. While the 190e is only about 165Hp, it sort of has a similar style of launch. The 190e tends to ease into whatever it is doing so as to not upset your bourgeois sentiments. It will accelerate quite nicely but only after easing into the acceleration.
In fact, from a start it starts in 2nd gear. This is the design. If you really push the peddle down it will kick down to 1st and tear off but otherwise it starts in second for smooth easy acceleration. It is kind of annoying because it is all or nothing.
I have to think that there is a lot of power management in that Mercedes to keep that 600Hp (or whatever) in control. The only people that can buy that car are old rich dudes who would not necessarily know how to manage such power themselves.
Just from the sound of it, the TA needs to be tuned on a dyno, under load and with NO2, it runs like shit from the sound of it, the MB didn't pull it as bad as I thought it should........

One runs 120 in the 1/4 and the other runs 125 in the 1/4 and neither impresses you? All you old school big block muscle probably never saw 110 in the 1/4.
