lsd lock up rate and oversteer?

Post by marc79euro645 »

I've got a 3.45 lsd sideloader,265 od tranny, m106, in a 79 euro 635.
I recently had the rear passenger halfshaft come loose from the wheel hub, bolts had loosened up, and it popped as I pulled out . I was surprised the driverside did not continue to drive the car as I tried to get out of the road. I actually had to get out & push to get off the road. so I'm thinking my lsd clutch pack is burned?
I see that metric mechanic offers different lock up upgrades .
I've read on porsche websites how different ramp angles on the spring washers effect lockup, also clutchpack thicknesses & plate arrangements. I've also read how increasing lockup causes oversteer and reqiures retuning of suspension to balance. has anyone here got any experience with lsd lock up upgrades?
any thoughts appreciated

They wear out over time, especially with abuse. You should be able to move the car though. That aint right.

a street worthy stock lock up won't really move the car effectively, i wouldn't consider this a failing, mom was able to limp her 325is e30 the 1/4 mile home when a cv joint let go internally, but she didn't let it stop moving after it went pop, once it stopped moving at the house it wouldn't move again

nope, it'll still burn both tires and drift out of a turn and when on the lift its hard to counter turn the rear wheels like it should be, the stock 25% lock up is just not effective at getting the car moving, it can maintain some movement if something craps underway. not saying the OP's can't be worn out, just that i wouldn't use this as a indication that it is
