Is the Holset X35W too big?

Hey I could get a wicked deal on a Holset, with the wastegate and most of the plumbing, for 450 CAD used. My question to turbo pros...is this gonna be too big for a bone stock eta 2.7 M20(other than the CAI that I installed)? Thanks in advance, just starting to consider the T.C. option...please be gentle to the Turbo noob. Thanks in advance

This will NOT work for 220hp or 700hp.

It probably will be too big for an eta motor.

Dan; too big for the boost out put? It will have the wastegate set up, or too big for the engine bay. Gunny; for HP I'd be happy with between 3 and 4 hundred.

But I guess if I was going to do that I'd need an M30? Or get the shit stroked out of an M20? Unsure as to the potential with M20 vs M30 taking the power to weight ratio into account. Thanks for informing the turbo noob gentlemen.

The compressor is too big for the stock eta motor.

Too bad...do you think it will blow the rings and HG and other stuff? Too much power for an old M20? Cuz that really sucks will this be safe to run on a M30 though? If not what BMW motor would this be compatible with? Thanks in advance.

It has nothing to do with that. The motor will likely not even spin the damn thing. Its too big.

The 2.7l eta doesn't rev high enough to flow a whole lot of air.

You need to read, a lot, before you even start considering which turbo would be appropriate. Otherwise you'll wind up buying parts that make no sense and a project that fails horribly.

If you don't want to become knowledgeable, buy a kit where somewhere else has already done the homework.

I think it might be on the small side but it'll be ok.

Are you thinking of putting in an m30 just for a turbo?

Well I was thinking about getting more power, VIA turbo. But if this turbo is too big then I won't jump on getting it. If you guys think the turbo is too big for even an M30 then I won't buy it. I just saw the price of it. And yes I've gotten to read quite a bit about turbo's on here and a round the net. I realize that I'll need to probably upgrade; injectors, fuel pump, exhaust, coil plugs & wires and dist, heavier gauge of HG, HG bolts, heavy duty mount for wastegate, plumbing galore, boost oil psi gauge and maybe other gauges as well, a fire extinguisher and run and learn megasquirt or some other form of igintion control , get a laptop that's just the info off the top of my head. And yes I am still very new to all the lingo/comprehension of the dark side of forced induction!

My suggestion to you is sell the 2.7 for like $10cnd or
however much you can get for it.

Buy yourself an m30b35 and it'll be much faster without a turbo.
and no, that hx35 is not too big for an m30. It probably will spool it at idle and max it out at 15psi. :P

The HX35 isn't that big. Its just too "big" for an eta. An M20 in a different configuration would handle it just fine.

Do some research if you're serious. You can figure out turbo selection on your own. No one is likely to take you seriously when you're asking to be spoon fed basic info.

Tons of turbo calculators online can tell you provided you can find a compressor map.
