 Which e28? Which motor? Which engine management? What are your plans for the exhaust? The answers to all of these questions are required before anyone can guide you on the proper location for the O2 sensor on the e28 that you're "buildin".

Put it on the outside, so the sensor is poking into the pipe.

For the WB O2, a good spot is just before the catalytic converter or just before where the cat would normally be if you're not running one.

BTW, the 535is is m30. M30b34 specifically, and 2 1/2 inches is really on the small side for a turbo exhaust. 2 3/4 or 3 inch work much better.

ditto the minimum 3" or dont bother. im pretty sure in the instructions to your o2 it probably says a minimum of 16" down stream from the turbo. And it probably says somewhere in there not to put it on a bend and it should be about 10 degrees off of horizontal. But i bet you didnt read the instructions, cause your a man. And a manly man at that.
