M5 Exhaust

I've been researching new cat-back exhaust options for my E-28 M5, including searches here. I see Ireland claims there's is not a direct fit for the M5. My question is; what would make it different? The platform is the same, as are suspension basics, spare tire well, and fuel tank (I think). Is there something unique that affects the rear exhaust sections over basic E28s? Supersprints pictures for both appear the same.

The connection to the cat is different and also the pipe sizes are different between the M5 and the 535.

Thanks. Does anyone have comparison ideas between the stock M5 system, and the Supersprint? Any performance gain with chip and maybe cam gear between the two.I have ruled out Tri-Flo, and Stebro. The stock and Supersprint are about the same cost.

The SuperSprint is nothing special except for the tips. Best bet would probably be the center section from VSR and an appropriate muffler.

The appropriate rear section is what I am still wondering about. As far as I have seen, there is no good solution.

OEM is expensive, and if it could be shown to be as good as the original, it would be a reasonable solution. But histry has shown that BMW replacement mufflers last 5 years instead of 20....

Stainless is good, but I have not heard of one that has OEM performance, ie sound, and I would like to fit the proper black tips ( I have a set ready )

If you can wait, you should try to find a UUC cat-back muffler.

2.25 inch all the way back, stainless steel, and it mates up to the stock catalytic section, which means you can use a center section from VSR. Overall it's a little bit louder than stock, but it's the highest quality you can find for the E28 M5 without a completely custom set-up.
