Drove it finally after getting my nostart problem--ended up being the fuel pump

-added high output brake light bulbs and now have 4 brake light bulbs instead of 2

Also have some plans for it soon, want to wash it, and wax or polish it up real nice. Also want to get my painted hood on there soon!
thinking about chedking the bushings in my shifter to see if i can tighten it up at all.

Went over to where it's stored & started it up. Noticed a nasty squeal coming from the front of the engine compartment, and I'm wondering now whether the PO changed the water pump when he changed the timing belt in 2003. Now I've got a clutch job and a water pump job to look forward to.

As long as I'm in there, might as well put a fresh timing belt in, and an idler, and replace a seal or two, and a few hoses, and... Dang if this isn't becoming a heck of a job. Or maybe I need to start looking for a decent M30 or maybe an M52 to swap in. Not sure if I'm up to that, but...

Nope.

Took the PO at his word that he changed it in 2003. No idea how many miles, as the odometer was broken the whole time he had it, but figured it had been less than 10k; he lived & worked in Slayton, MN. The whole town is about a mile wide!

Yeah; I probably shoulda just changed them. I'll hang my head in shame until the job is done.

While the mileage interval might be 50-60k, they definitely have a calendar interval as well. If the car was new to me and the belt hadn't been changed in the last 3-4 years, I'd have done it anyway. That's me, though and look where I'm at.

Today I washed my car, ran over a parking lot stop dented my front valance even more, got Silver Star turn signals, reverse lights, and tail lights. WOW super bright =] my reverse looks blue xenon lmao, ordered a fuel filter and right now im restoring my side markers =]

Since I knew it was supposed to be sunny and warm I woke up early and pulled the Super Eta outside the garage, popped the hood, covered the electrics and did some degreasing of the engine bay with Super Purple and rinsed it down with water. The enamel paint warnings had me a bit spooked so afterwards I rinsed down the entire front end then took it to the full service carwash for a bath.

I am currently on vacation so I did not have to worry about heading to work so I picked up some taco bell (everyone say mmmmm) and the just released video Men Who Stare at Goats. After returning home I parked back out in the sun (why I mentioned the sunny day) and applied Leatherique to my interior and closed up the car to allow it to bake.

The Taco Bell is done and the movie is over (both were a bit strange but satisfying) and I am allowing for a couple more hours of time for the leather treatment before I head back out to clean the insides.

Especially when the wheels coming off are bottlecaps! Time for a new table.

I'll put some pictures up in eye candy this weekend. I bought them from a guy down in California. They're in nice shape, very slight peeling but nothing to write home about.

Me next! I assume your neighbors had no problem with you doing that in the alley? Although I guess my neighbors didn't seem to have a problem with you doing Super Eta burn-outs in my driveway

On a side note Warren, my shimmy was finally solved by having three of my four wheels unbent by Northwest frame.

You know my alley, so you also know it's no lie when I say if anything it improved it

Glad to hear the shimmy is solved I have a feeling four new shoes on my new wheels will take care of mine. I am a bit dissapointed in the wheels/tires you loaned me, I am having trouble breaking them loose for dry pavement burnouts

Today I removed my smoked paint off my side markers, Lucas Tranny treament (WOW! drives like butta!) and put some No Smoke in my oil because my exhaust fumes are starting to smell funny, I have a feeling my car is burning oil as i opened the oil cap i saw a bit or smoke, might've been steam heat hitting cool air i dunno, and i got pulled over because my "ROUNDEL" license plates are not here yet.

Last night I stayed up till 11 installing a new center console, HVAC panel and related trim, fixing the radio, removing the front seat for cloth replacement, and replaced the rear seat with cloth PB units. I also installed the new (kid in a candy store moment!) analog clock. Tonight I plan to tear the old leather seat apart and the cloth replacement and use the butt of the new and the back of the old and cover in cloth.

It's been a productive couple of days! Installed new UCAs, LCAs, and tie rods.
Buttoned up new manifold-back exhaust.
New t-stat and coolant.
Fixed drip on power steering box(just crud at bottom fitting!!).
Replaced the completely toasted bushings/tower mounts on the shift lever console. Now shifting is now longer like rowing a boat!
Whew!
Got in and she fired right up! Drove to Home Depot to return the "borrowed" 80lb bags of concrete used to preload the suspension.
Its a totally different car! Brought her home around Christmas, and this is the first she's been on the road since.
Still lotsa stuff to do, but those were the major things.

I wouldn't be where I am though, without the myE28 enthusiast community. Endless thanks to those who have helped me.
I will need more, and am hoping to be able to help others!!
