Do strut mounts need to be done in pairs?
Do strut mounts need to be done in pairs?
Ordering parts and the idea just struck me. Normally when doing suspension bits, it's a bad idea to replace only one side. In this case, I don't see it affecting anything, hence the question!
Do front strut mounts need to be replaced in pairs, or is replacing one side acceptable?

Well, the one side is clunking and the rubber is visibly separating from the metal. The other side is giving no indication of any such problems. Maybe I'll order two, but only do the failed side for now. The other side will wait for spring. Working in the garage in winter sucks, I try to do as little as possible. The bad knee further hampers my efforts atm.Kyle in NO wrote:Realize that they have both been subjected to the same amount of wear and stress...i'd never do just one on one of my own cars.
That said, I wouldn't want to do something that would be unsafe.

Wait. You're accusing me of looking funny?C.R. Krieger wrote:This is Jeremy. He sits funny ... but it's got nothing to do with the car.mooseheadm5 wrote:You should do both just because they compress over time. If you put only one in, your car will sit funny. It won't be unsafe, though.
I'm reminded of something about stones and glass houses, lol.
