Ya. It wouldn't surprise me if the headgasket was the least of the OP's worries.
well if i get it back together and the motor is completely fried, i have an extra motor that i traded for some old e30 rims. so worst case, i just have to swap the motors out.

Ya, it should work ok for you with some tweaking. Mind you there are additional idle advance settings that make it work. I don't actually idle at those rpm/map advance bins. I will upload my MSQ later.
Out of curiosity, what size injectors are you running?

22 pounds, wow. I would be extremlyyyy suprised if you wearn't maxing those injectors out. Let alone that advance, and poor bin placement. Shows how well that headgasket really is, it must have taken a beating.

so i havent had the car for some time, but thinking back, that map that i uploaded was a mix between someone off DIYautotune and our own work.

thinking back, we imported a couple maps from DIYautotune, but im guessing it was overlooked because the map was supposed to be from a boosted m30. so im guessing it just skipped out mind on checking to make sure things were in order.

comparing out original start map vs current, ignition load is 200% on the original and only 100 on the final. seems to be a costly assumption.

Without a datalog to know for sure, I'd be willing to be that even at ~6psi, you were maxing out 22#injectors.

they are nearing the peak, thats why i have it set at only 6psi. the lowest the wastegate wants to go is ~5.5 ~6psi

Thats his idle region, and to be precise, is car will never hit that square.

Thats a shit ton of ignition advance.

It sucks that the motor popped but at least you can learn from it.

yeah, so far ive really figured out what assuming does.... never assume a tune is good... you may find out that its not even tuned for boost.

Megasquirt has a specific idle timing advance option. If certain idle conditions are met, it locks the timing into a fixed value so that it helps stabilize CL idle. My idle advance is 15 degrees at 900rpm. I just have it set at 25 so that it smooths out the table without big holes at idle.

I might try dialing in some more idle advance, try to lower the map even more. Not that it really needs more but oh well.

Spare yourself the hassle later and use that extra motor if you know it's good. It really sucks to put an engine back together and realize 500 miles later that the block is toast.

im not to worried, i already installed the gasket. and the extra motor i have already has a new headgasket.

well find out if its cooked or not soon enough. i inadvertently ordered 12 bolts instead of 14(sold individually for some reason), so hopefully i can get two more ordered from the dealer tomorrow.

Ok makes sense, my WARchip timing is also very close too yours. I'm going to dial it in a little better using your graph as they have the same amount of cells.

I'm actually running a bit more than Brad. I think this is due to being a b34 with less compression.

If you had a datalog could possibly tell you how far those 50 pound will bring you.

haha. yeah, that could be helpful.

deatschwerks said that those could realistically support 500 550ish on a 3.5 6cylinder. im not shooting for anything near that so that puts them well within there duty cycle with out pushing their limits much

Guess we will find out, really need to get that spark table figured out as well as other things that are wrong with that tune of yours. You said you were using Brad's which is fine. I'm sure his table works good, it is a dyno tuned table. However, just realize by just copying his table you didn't learn anything, so when people ask you questions or you try to fix problems, your really going to be out back.

yes, i realize that not much was learnt from copying, but for now it works so the car is driveable. Some serious work will be put toward the next tune so i have no issues again. i already have a new play date with friend who knows megasquirt. thats why i picked up the injectors.

i dont plan to walk away from this experience knowing nothing more than i did before. we all learn from mistakes(and the internet!!!), and i certainly will learn from mine.
