OK, I dunno, maybe it's just my car, but, it seems to get awefully hot under my hood. I mean, the enigne is not overheating or anything, I know this for a fact. But, should my intake manifold, and such, be hot to the touch? I was always under the assumption that the entire intake system should be as cold as possibly. I had a dodge caravan that even after driving it for 5-6 hours at a time, the intake was still cold to the touch.
So, is there something wrong with my car, or are all of our cars like this, and is there anything we can do to lower our underhood temps? I was told by a guy with a turbo'd E36 that he removed the weatherstripping on the rear of his hood (the part closest to the windsheild), and he owered his underhood temps by about 15 degree's, cause the hot air could get out the back, and blow rihgt out over the windsheld. Is this a good place to start, or are there things on my car I should be looking at?
What can I do about engine compartment heat?

The only time air would exit the extremely narrow gap would be when the car is not moving or is at a very slow speed; otherwise, air would be pushed in to the engine compartment from the high-pressure area at the base of the hood. That's why cowl-induction hood scoops are effective on cars that have windshield angles like ours (or even a bit more "swoopy"). You'd probably get more underhood cooling by removing your high-beam headlights and the panels behind the lights.
