As y'all know I have had some issue with my "new" ride buckin' or dying out intermittenly. At first thought it was the ECU since I have inspected/replaced everything else. So I decided to check my injectors (I know I should have done this during my restoration, so go ahead and laugh (@) ) and they had carbon deposits on each one just like the bentley photograph on page 3.4. So I cleaned up the injectors real good. Now I am thinking that most likely have carbon build up on the intake valves also. I have search the archives and found some information on administering ventil sauber via the FPR vacuum hose and this arcticle: http://member.rivernet.com.au/btaylor/B ... leE28.html
Have any of you try these methods for cleaning intake valves and if so is there any thing else I should know?
Have you checked the flywheel sensors for crud buildup?
No Shawn I haven't. I guess I lied when I said "I inspected/cleaned everthing." %) I did check the resistance on them. Will clean them today. I guess your thinking that I should clean the sensors before I administer the ventil sauber cleaning? I think I saw in the archives that you may have done this method before using water? Any pointers Shawn or others?

It wouldn't hurt to do both the Ventil Sauber and the inspection of the sensors, but intermittent cutting out isn't a carbon buildup issue -- it's a fuel/spark issue.
Yes, I used water, as well as Sea Foam (it's what the local emporium had). There was some improvement in emissions, but I still failed because my cat was bad.

yup Ive used water, sucked a 20 oz bottle of water through the cabin temp sensor line. Didnt seem to do much, prolly too little volume. I pulled the plugs front to back 1,2+3 were white as new facing the intake valve. 4,5+6 were progressively darker. I guess the fronts got all the water. Then I bought a can of Seafoam carbon cleaner and followed the directions on the label. I used the line to the charcooal canister.. The engine would suck in about 3 oz and stall. Repeat until the can is gone. Wait as prescribed , this is the hotsoak. Fired the engine up. I couldnt see through the smoke cloud. Its a wonder the neighbors didnt call the fire dept. . A day or so later, I noticed the the oil looked a little thin so I changed it. The reason I did this was to lower the NOx . I also changed the plugs and the O2 sensor. Its funny , but I didnt gain any immediate improvement. Then my commute changed from a 30 mile, hour plus drive to a 65 mile, hour or less drive. After just a week of the new drive, I noticed an improvement. But your symptoms sound to me more electrical or even fuel related in nature. Have you checked the simple stuff like the ground straps, the O2 sensor leads for shorts? Fuel pressure? Plug wire resistance?
