I have two gauges left to go into my gauge pod. One is for oil temperature, the other for oil pressure. I figure with a nifty 4 way fitting on the outlet from the oil canister for the turbo feed, and I can mount both sensors in one spot and be done with it. The pressure "idiot" light will remain as configured from the factory in the rear of the head.
Anybody see any issues with doing it this way? Also, where would I find a fitting like that? Duke got one something like what I need (except I need one more port for the turbo feed), but I don't know where he got it.
Something like this, except with one more fitting for the pressure sensor:
My setup would look a little different since I don't have an oil cooler at present. I have more room to work with for this same reason.
What size is the fitting going into the filter housing (i.e. 1/8"NPT, 12x1.5mm, etc.)? Do you have any dimensional data on the senders? If they're all NPT, it'll be quite easy, as you could use a close nipple in conjunction with a cross...
... or you could use a little manifold (like McMaster-Carr P/N 5469K101)...
One thing you'll have to ensure is that the temperature sender probe doesn't impede the flow of the oil -- it can extend past the threads by 1/2" depending on the manufacturer.
If you've got metric senders, it'll get more complicated. BTW, Duke didn't exactly "get" that block he's using -- he had to modify an existing one.
Hmmm, those're some excellent questions, and I don't have all the answers right here. I know the gauges, and thus the senders, are all Autometer which use 1/8" NPT threads. The turbo oil feed is 1/8" or 1/4" NPT, but I'm not 100% sure (Todd?). I tend to think it's 1/8" NPT since it doesn't look like Duke used any kind of adapter on his. The Autometer oil pressure sender comes with a 1/8" to 1/4" NPT adapter. The oil temp pickup comes with 3/8" or 1/2", however. Evidently that's to clear the area around the probe itself, which the pressure sensor doesn't need to contend with.
I guess the thing to do would be to buy a 1/2" or 3/8" cross like you pictured and get 3 more adapters to adapt to 1/8" tp mount the senders and attach the oil feed line. That'd solve the temperature probe clearance issue since it'd be mostly inside the adapter, but would the volume in the fitting itself cause any issues with getting an accurate indication of oil pressure?
