Supersprint resonator and muffler: The problem is the pipes behind the muffler and the resonator hang too close to the ground, which looks extremely stupid when viewing the car from just about every angle, and it makes my car not able to be lowered because it would be like 2 inches from the ground. Has anyone had a better installation of this? Both shops i've taken it to have said thats just the way its supposed to be. I will probably post pics tomorrow. (@)

My Supersprint is the exact same way and my car sits really low. I believe it is the design of the actual muffler because I have straight pipes where the resonator should be. I might be redoing the entire exhaust and then hopefully they can eliminate this low point. It does scrap over really big speed bumps and high driveways.

Wow, the second picture says it all. That really, really does NOT look right, but maybe Magnaflow just had a bunch of idiot engineers design the system!

ok look at the supersprint muffler, right where the pipes start at the back it has a kink, the pipes dont come out straight they drop down like 2 inches..

now look at the stock system.. it looks like they come right straight out the back of the muffler

Whoa! Mine did not look like it hung that low SO I just went outside to check and sure enough it does hang that low...

So to solve your problem you just need to lower your car

. I guess this is why mine does not appear to be hanging as low as yours. You will barely even notice once the car is lowered!

lol wtf... the resonator is going to get destroyed hanging like 2 inches from the ground..
think i'm going to get a new resonator/muffler... any ideas? something with tail pipes that go STRAIGHT out the back cause i'm gonna put an m-tech kit on in the future and it has that little opening in the back skirt

Flip the damn thing over so the inlet and outlet pipes are at the top of the muffler, then run the pipes up higher.

You are right, it does look pretty ghetto. I would find another setup.

sucks, cause i like the sound too, not too loud but its got a good roar..

what about a stock muffler with no resonator?.. i already got my cat taken out.

Magnaflow? Shifty, where does that reference come from?

The question is, have you scraped on stuff so far?

And, do we have any SuperSprint guys here who are lowered?

i havent scraped on anything, but my car is not lowered yet. I dont know what shifty is talking about with the magnaflow... however i think i'm going to go back to stock muffler, so if anyone may want this resonator/muffler let me know.. might be a couple weeks before i actually put it up for sale. Damn thing was over $1000 shipped

I'd get rid of it if it bugs you. It would bother me. Have you ever noticed that the pipes on a 4 cylinder Camry hang really low? Whenever I drive behind one on the highway I notice it, and wonder who the brilliant engineer was that designed it.

I tried the Stromung system a few years ago, and it had an annoying resonance, so I went back to stock Boysen. If you need more flow, you could use an M5 exhaust, but you need to adapt it.

I have a Supersprint rear exhaust on my E30 track car and the pipes hang much lower (3 inches) than the stock pipes, Ansa sport or Remus exhausts that I have had on the car. The car is pretty low and I haven't scraped it on anything yet. Previous owner of the exhaust scraped it up pretty good, however.

BTW, the exhaust on a Toyota Camary should not hang down - this is an installation quality problem. When attaching the rear pipe, the installer should rotate the pipe 90 degrees towards the driver side of the car - the pipe will bend to the side and not down towards the ground. I have fixed this on several Camarys.

P.S. I enjoyed your fair state last week; was staying in Stuart. The "cous" kept me busy (went to Barrett-Jackson in West Palm Beach, etc.) and the weather was PERFECT (no humidity!). Made it as far south as Hollywood; the lack of traffic was most enjoying! Even saw a couple 'gators on the St Lucie River!
