Starting Engine after rebuilding

I hope to start the engine soon. I drained the old gas and plan to install a new fuel filter before I refill. I assume it will take a little time for the gas to be pump to the engine. Is there anything I should do other that try to startup.

Pull the main relay and crank the motor until the oil pressure light goes out.
Plug in the main relay and have at it.

You might want to have a fire extinguisher handy.

Follow Marks advice. Also how do you intend on breaking in the engine? I am a firm believe in the Motoman Method.
