Friends, I would really use a good advise from you, on a matter that has been bugging me for about 5 years.
Here's the problem, in short:
a) the engine needs a rather long cranking time (about 3 seconds to start);
b) if I stop it and restart it within 1 minute, it starts faster, but not as fast as it should;
c) if I restart it from about 1 minute to several days since it was last stopped, it takes that long cranking time;
d) if I restart it after more that 1 week since it was last stopped, it starts immediately.
When I bought the car 9+ years ago, it used to start very nice.
Then, it time it developed the condition describe above. It didn't happen at once, but over a period of about 1 year or so.
What can be the cause? The situations "c" and "d" puzzle me a lot. What may be the source of that behavior?
The engine is very healthy and runs like a champ otherwise.
I would like to say that I've renewed a lot of stuff on my car, and still the problem didn't solve:
- engine: conversion from 8:1 to 10:1 compression (pistons + rings), including head job;
- electrical: new distributor cap + rotor, thermotime switch, coolant sensor, bellhousing sensors (ref. + speed), ignition wires;
- fuel: fuel hoses, added a check valve close to the main fuel pump, new transfer fuel pump, new cold start injector;
- tested 3 different ECUs (2x 061 and 1x 059).
Start issue that I would use some advise on

That is not a long cranking time nor is it a 'problem'. Let it go.RobertRO wrote:Friends, I would really use a good advise from you, on a matter that has been bugging me for about 5 years.

X2. This is not a problem. It is how M30s start when they have any sort of mileage. My understanding and experience with them is that it is normal. Leave it alone.C.R.
