The speedo (speedometer) is on the differential, SPEED & REFERENCE are on the bellhousing. Motronic uses the latter two to determine engine speed and timing, while the instrument cluster uses the diff sensor for its speedometer input. I guess thats why its important to include as much information as possible when asking Q's, but I didnt see the original post.
