88 528e is getting loud
I think the valves in my 528e m20 are very very loud. They make a clack clack clack sound. How can I fix this and be sure its not the fuel injectors?
How many miles has it been since your last valve adjustment? I would think its probably time if its been more than 15,000 miles. I know mine could use it but im trying to get a new head put in my car first. If your injectors were loud enough to be mistaken for valves I would imagine they wouldnt be working very well if at all. You should be able to sense vibration from them by holding a slotted screwdriver to the body of each injector. There was some discussion of how to do valve adjustments on the tech talk board a few days ago, albeit for M30. Someone posted a link to an M20 guide. Basically the number one rule is to do them dead cold, and to replace the VC gasket and rocker shaft plugs.
