Old BBS wheels, value? desire?

Post by MacBudd541 »

So I picked up some old BBS wheels today, just wondering if anyone knows the "model number" or pretty much what they're worth.
They are staggered 16x7 et11 casting date 1983 and 16x8 et24 dated 1984.
The lips look like they are the exact same size, visually you cant tell them apart without looking at the size. All 4 came with the chrome centercaps as shown in the picture. I've got a line on an e28 535is and i'm thinking these would look pretty good on that, just need to get the lips polished!.
Anyway i just wanted some more info on them, i'm kinda a BBS noob.

They are most likely RAs and you will need longer (8 to 10mm)than stock lug bolts to safely mount them as the center section on the wheel is thicker than most OE BMW wheels.

As far as value goes; they are worth watever someone is willing to pay.;)

I have a set sitting in the garage to be straightened and refinished when I get around to it.

You need a 44mm lug bolt.

I just bought the exact set of wheels a few weeks ago. The guy was asking $400 but I got 'em for $300 because I was a "fellow enthusiast".
I think they should be worth at least $600-$800 when they're refinished. :dunno:

I'd have my pal Johnny Cash give you the middle finger, but you'd probably be offended.

That's a pretty good deal. I paid that for a set with a bent wheel and no tires or lugs. I would have had them cheaper but some nugget face showed interest.
