Would love to host a gathering or at least try to put a drive or something together. Louie, let me know if there is anything I can do to help out with any events you are planning. I am new to POrtland area from Seattle, and don't know tons of people down here. I get a fresh start and can surround myself with fine intelligent (BMW owners) people. I am up for any ideas, have a 2 car garage and a fair amount of tools for tech gathering, Also have some connections for places to stay at the Coast for a nice drive, eat and drink gathering. Lets put something together.

I'm out in Hillsboro(west of Pdx). I would love to meet up to work on cars, or to get some quality driving in. There have been some plans in the air for us to meet at a bar called the Lucky Lab on a certain Thursday night in the future, but your proposal would definitely give those of us in the area the jumpstart needed to meet up. Dont laugh though because I drive a beater 528e. I have plans for it

There is a loose group of PDX BMW people that meet at the Lucky Lab every other Thursday evening. Next gathering is February 10. A group of 2002 guys meets the same night at the Holgate Station deli, they moved from the Lab because parking is bad in the summer, they're all old and can't hear over the din, and they were concerned about the lack of focus on 2002's ('02 Uber Alles, you know... %) ) If you're old and only like 2002's, go there.

Anyway, I'd like to see more people at the Lab, we're down to about 5 or 6 regulars, mostly e21 guys. I've also been working on a plan to set up a tool loan program through the Portland BMWACA website, to help out people who are not checkbook mechanics but also don't have a garage full of tools.

I'm up for a gathering, some wrenching, driving, whatever. I'm on the west side, in Beaverboro (y'know, not really Beaverton, but not quite Hillsboro)

Not sure I can make it the 10th as much as I want to. I may be in Medford/Ashland area. I am on the road all the time for my work. (keep in mind if you need anything picked up or looked at throughout Oregon, I may be able to help) Other than the 10th I think we should start planning. Lets throw some ideas out there...

I would like to meet up sometime w/ the Lucky Lab crew to meet fellow enthusiasts. I sold my E34--somewhat rare 525i 5spd (to my girlfriend) and bought an 86' E28 535i 5spd. I am eager to share info and get veteran advice, ideas etc...

I do have a couple questions:

1.) I need & want a front spoiler for the 86 535i b/c obviously she needs one to look sharp. Any recommendations on local salvage yards or connections to get that done?

2.) Would like to know if some Ebay Chips sold are similar to Jim C. chips. What range HP gain am I looking at: 5-10 or 10-15 or 15-20 HP gains?

I am in SW Barbur area. My goal is to find a spoiler that is used that isn't going to break the bank. No major hurry or anything but that is going to be my first upgrade. No offense to anybody that doesnt have the spoiler but the car looks naked w/out it in my opinion.

There are no spoilers on any cars in the pick-n-pulls around Portland that I have seen. There are a couple, maybe 3 e28's at the Boring yard, pretty well picked for trim parts.

Damn, only 20,000 people thought of this upgrade before me! Thanks for the info. I guess I might scour the internet and have to pay top dollar for one.

You would think some fabricator out there would re-produce the old skool stuff and make a fortune selling BMW parts.

You wont find a front spoiler in PDX easly about ebay chips, You never know what you get it is beter to spend your money on a new Jim C, Dinan or Mark D.
Also rember 528s react more obviously with a chip then a 535i, but I swich back and forth between stock and my Dinan chiped ecu and I can tell the diferance bigtime.

Hey Dinane E28, thanks for your advice. Out of all the chips, I hear that Jim C is the best. What is the best bang for the buck money wise. I am very value conscious; where do you sugges I buy it?

Last, I am resigned to NOT finding a spoiler now. Seems like a very rare find. Do you have any suggestions???

Right On Fellas

I am trying to not bug you guys too much, but the D'sylva chip is availabe where? I saw some dude w/ huge/great feedback on Ebay but it might be all fake hype. I do think a bootleg Jim C program might be available on one of these chips. I guess I am just hoping somebody would say, " do it, this would work well, he has a good product for under the $300 for a Jim C chip.

I hope to connect w/ the 503 5'ers. Sorry Dinane28 had to be the only dude repping the NW. I think if things go well w/ me, I can try to muster courage to make it to South Carolina this year. The problem, my ride needs to look better, way better, i.e. dropped a bit, good paint, spoiler. Slow process and not enough time or dough.

I am in the Portland area as well. While I own a 90 325is my father just purchased an 88 M5. Let us know if something is planned in the near future.
