EAE Tuning

I've been working with EAE lately and I think I'm getting close to making an improvement over traditional AE. I'm looking for improvements in fuel mileage, which is where EAE has a lot of potential.

As far as tuning goes, I'm still getting a handle on things. I understand lean on accel means you need to increase your added to walls constant and lean on decel means you need to decrease your sucked from walls constant, but the MAP axis on the charts doesn't make much sense to me.

If I get a chance I'll post my settings up later...

Dan, what firmware are you running now? The latest 2.0.1 release code? I would be interested in tuning my EAE, I just haven't felt like driving around with the lappy in the car lately.

Same here. I'm running Nov. '07 beta 16. It works so well I'm hesitant to change.

Cause his don't be workin' at all. I've been trying to help him get an rpm signal (it's hard over IM to diagnose MS problems) but as of yet has been unsuccessful. Honestly, I am not convinced its software.

Well, I think we can't really determine how well that code variant works until the car runs on it.

I too doubt its a problem with the code. With MS its either hardware configuration or bad settings.

I know that megasquirt is getting a vr sensor, but no matter what I do I can't get rpm when the MS is in the car. :/

I have a lot of posts and datalogs on the MSExtra site under the thread "Quick EAE question"

I've got it running fairly well but fuel consumption is a little higher than traditional AE.

I don't know where Scott would go back from 2.0.1, as it's the stable release. 1.0.2 is also a stable release but is very different from 2.0.1

I found it ran pretty good but the EGO control is much better in the Jan and Feb 2.1.0 releases

Thats kind of a bummer. It seems like it should be able to really save fuel the way it leans out on decel. You dont feel a thing, but its pulling out 15 or 20%.

You really should subscribe to that thread (the 'quick EAE question' title is no longer quick as it spans several pages)

I think it will ultimately save fuel, but I don't have it tuned 100%.
Plus it feels so good, I tend to keep my foot in it.

"Enhanced" accel enrichment. It keeps a running calculation of the amount of fuel wetting the walls of the intake ports and increases/decreases the pulse width to maintain a stable AFR during acceleration and deceleration events. It'd be great if it wasn't so impossible to tune.

Actually the standard AE works pretty darn well in the latest releases. We're using it on the DSP e30 car we're building.

I remember the early attempts at this type of AE (early X-Tau that Al Grippo wrote) and I have always wanted to try it.

EAE is much easier to tune that early X-Tau stuff.

At the 2006 Megameeting we made a great running truck un-driveable just by turning on X-Tau.

My car is running good at this point, I'm just interested to see how far it goes on a tank. I've gotten excellent results with traditional accel enrichment as far as throttle reponse and driveability. If I dont do any better on fuel with EAE I'll be right back to it.

It would be great to post your results on the 'quick eae question' thread at MSExtra.com. We don't get a lot of data back on EAE and your work could help someone else.
