Wiring in S38 B38 engine loom into E28

Post by Revhead »

Hi all, started to look at doing this engine swap - removing my M88 and fitting the 3.8 I bought a few months back.

Now the E34 loom is still on the engine and seems fairly compact - it goes into the ECU (which presumably sits under the bonnet on an E34) and ends in a round plug which I think would just go into the fusebox on an E34?

I assume the engine could be started on the floor just by wiring power and earth to the appropriate pins in the plug?

Anyone have any info on the plug wiring - also do all E34 engines with an M30 base engine ie the 530i, 535i, M5 3.6 and 3.8 etc use this same plug with the same connections?

I have been told my ECU does not have EWS.

I am planning to use my RHD M88 exhaust manifold, Koala engine mount adaptors and the E28 sump.
Can I get away with not running the air pump?

Email them asking for Carl and he should help you out. He's done several conversions w/ both B38 and B36 S38 engines into E28s.
