Guess this part.

You all get one guess. The bonus question is what is the item photographed on?

A piece of an E28 rusted out chassis side rail laying in the bed of a pickup with a "rhino" lining?

That liner looks plastic to me.

It's the brace piece that goes from inside the rear valance where the driver side shock mount attaches to the spare tire well.

Well, what's left of it anyway. New England rust for the loss.

It's definitely not a drop in plastic liner. They don't have that profile. I vote for rhino liner

Jeremy is the winner on the the part. His description was spot on.

The part is siting in the plastic bed of my wife's 2005 Tacoma. The bed is entirely plastic not a liner at all. No more Tacomas with rusted out out beds.

The part would make an excellent combat weapon with its multiple sharp edges.

Damn, Jeremy beat me to it. Wife and I were out looking at properties all morning.

I had the same part come off my '86. I would have gotten that one easy!

Thanks, Ray. My transmission fell out today.

Maybe we'll see something like it fall off Eric's car.

Your transmission fell OUT? Fell the f*ck OUT?
Missing bolts, too much rust, or were you speaking metaphorically (as in "Aw, Clem dropped the clutch and tore the tranny clean out of the sum'bitch")?

No, no, no. I went through a spell where parts were flying off my car on the freeway (or being stolen). I lost an E28 M5 center cap, a c-pillar vent cover, a couple of trim pieces and my kidneys (the grille, not my personal kidneys) were found on the side of I-10, in a rather precarious spot, which rendered them not worth the risk. I've found that when you don't drive the car, things don't tend to fall off. Well, I guess the rear bumper doesn't count.

No, here's what happened:

I think the center cap was stolen, since I don't see a way it could have flown off.

The c-pillar vent flew off because the upper plastic grommet crumbled and wind caught it. I watched it fly off in my rear-view mirror.

I lost the kidney grilles when my hood latch mechanism broke, so I had the side grilles off, but left the kidneys in, and they were broken up on top, so I wasn't surprised.

Some asswipe crossed 4 lanes on the freeway and kicked a re-tread up and it hit the right side of the airdam, resulting in the loss of the trim next to the fogs, and a cracked fog lamp.

As for the rear bumper, a very nice fellow who must not have had paper, nor a pen, hit my car in a parking lot, pushing the rear bumper over and cracking both NLA bumper brackets. The one on the right actually broke a short time later.

That's usually the first piece to fall off of our cars due to rust. When i first got my car it was hanging on there for dear life until i ripped it off lol

The NLA euro bumper bracket? That sucks.
