Hey guys, I'm new around here soo i will tell something about my self first.
My name is Meindert, i'm from Holland. I'm not yet really formilaur with BMW's, i'm driving a Opel Astra 1.6 where i've put in a 2.0ltr engine with 150hp. But i've bought a M535i this week and i'm going to pick him up this saturday if everything is going oke..
It has no engine in it because the owner wanted to keep the engine and lose the car soo i bought it verly cheap. It had the 286hp?!? engine in it.
I would like to fix it a little bit, because it has some rust on the e28 spots. But i would like to do something interesting with the engine.. I've found some of those 3,5ltr 6 cilinder engines and they are a good choice if i would like to keep it a bit orginal, but i also found a BMW V8 (i think a M62 engine) and i'm thinking about meaby installing that beast in there.. But i don't know how difficult the electrics are on that engine.. soo if somebody would have some information i would be happy to hear!
As far as the project i keep you guys updated!
Bye Bye,
Meindert Bunt

Welcome! The M535i would have had the regular 3.5 liter single cam engine, which would have been rated at 218hp (assuming it came from the factory without a catalytic converter.) Finding another similar engine would be the easiest thing to do, but a V8 will work as well. Aaron here on the board did the same thing to his car, there are some pictures and information on his website at http://www.bmwe28v8.org/.
Also, read through the turbo section of the board here, a lot of people have gone that way as well. There's some more information on turbos at Todd Dehate's website at http://www.turbochargingdynamics.com/
