I got a big spring in the mail today.

I've got a small blue spring and a big red spring in the wastegate now. They make 1.2 bar. I think the big red spring is a little weak. It makes about .55-.6 by itself. The car ran quite a bit slower than I expected last time I was at the dragstrip, so I ordered up a big blue spring for the wastegate. This set should make 1.6 bar if the big blue spring makes a full 1 bar of boost.

Any bets on how long it takes to blow the motor on 23 psi?

Well, it'll be fast for a few seconds anyway. Are you running a stock or MLS HG, I don't recall what you are running. I would think that with a good tune and no detonation, the only thing holding you back would be a HG issue or head lifting. Its gonna be time for an o-ringed block with welded coolant passages.

Stock head gasket and studs. Avoiding detonation will be the key. I think it'll hold if its not pinging the head off.

Another possibility is that it wont make a full 1.6 bar, like the 1.4 bar springs only make 1.1-1.2. 1.4-1.5 would be okay...

I would think that it would hold too if you prevent detonation. Should be interesting....

Dont hold back Ken, tell me how you really feel.

It really doesn't run good. I have been thinking about an M50 for a while, and I think thats actually going to happen. I got a few pulls in on the freeway, which felt no quicker than it did with the 1.4 bar springs. After the last one the motor was making a soft knocking noise over 3000 when revved under no load. That went away, but it is by no means a good sign. Perhaps whatever was making the car feel sluggish finally finished taking a dump. Oh well.

Needs moar valves...
