How did you figure that scam out?!?

Pure luck. I was going to look at the "supposed" car. So I started researching the Alpina B9 on Google wanting info on how to identify it properly. The third link on Google was the link identified above. After looking at the pictures of the restored B9 in France I realized it was the same car as the one pictured in the Atlanta Craigslist ad. Again pure luck.

It may be legitimate. The CL ad has new information:

UPDATE:
From the bombardment of emails I have received and offers from people that have not even seen the car I think it is in my best interest to slow down the sale. I am going to talk with my brother in law who helped my father in law bring it over from france and let him advise me on the sale.

Scam or no scam, I have to say the original description posted was one of the best/funniest I've seen lately on CL.

Story sounds plausible to me.....but, so should all good scams, right? Seems like if someone were angling to take off w/ a deposit or two, they'd post its location a bit farther from a hotbed of bmw enthusiasm like ATL.

Normally I would be far more skeptical, but he apparently edited his CL ad to say just that.

It was a scam. I emailed the guy with the B9 in France and he still has the car. He had contact info on his website here was his reply.

Good work. He was clever enough to edit his post when people contacted him, but it was only a matter of time that someone found out.

Have you flagged it on Craigslist? It should be removed.
