FS: 745i in midwest pricey?

Post by Nebraska_e28 »

No affiliation yadda yadda... Even though it's listed on St. Louis CL, it says it's located in Nebraska. Just a wee bit pricey though!

it has 16" borbet type t wheels and a bbs front spoiler on it.
Or at least three of them. :dunno: If you're gonna sell a 23 year old car for $6500, at least make sure the wheels match.

Maybe the shipping papers from Germany justify his price point?

WOW, that's sketchy as hell! That used to be my car! I mean, I can't be 100% positive, but it's in Lincoln, NE, Diamond Black, Borbet Type Ts (3 out of four ain't bad)...... If that is indeed it, my heart is broken to see it in such sad shape.

I sold that car 3 years ago for $3000 on ebay to a buyer in Lincoln, Nebraska, then drove it out there on top of that.

Here's the real kicker though folks, it had 158k miles on it at the time! Seems the odometer's been running in reverse since then, kinda like a certain Plymouth named Christine.

I still have the for sale details posted on my cardomain page: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/287018/5

Compare those pics to the the ones on CL. Same floormats even. Coincidence? Methinks not.

What a shame. I knew I should never have sold that car.

I recall reading the details on your cardomain page for this ride. 'If' the one on CL is the same then definitely it is a damned shame what they've let happen to it! I'm only about 40 min from Lincoln, so perhaps I may take a gander despite the fact of how pissed of I'd probably end up after seeing what has happened to it. If I do, I'll try to grab the VIN for our own amusement. These darned winters can wreck hell on a car, I've seen this with my own eyes.

Would the steering wheel be new or one you put on? I did notice that between the pics. The older Beamer do seem to be quite rare around here from what I've seen so chances are this is the one. :(

Wow  Thanks for posting the link. The Black car is beautiful . Looks like your other car got abused after it left your stable, too bad it was very nice as well.

Oh gawd, I would never put a wheel like that on any car of mine. In fact, I still have the 3 spoke BMW sport wheel that I bought for the car but never installed. The most troubling thing about this to me is the mileage discrepancy, I'd hope a carfax would reveal the truth. That said, I could understand someone being duped into believing this is an 87k mile car. It certainly could have passed for that mileage when I sold it, and would probably clean up pretty well now. Fix the rear quarter damage, undo the interior "modifications", throw a set of style 5s on there, a good detailing, and it would start coming back into its own. Hopefully the mechanicals were maintained somewhat, the guy that bought it from me supposedly owned a repair shop.

The seller needs a reality check on the price, but I'd probably give him $4500 for it as it sits. With the body damage fixed, matching wheels, and all cleaned up, I could see it being a $6000 car.

On top of that the BBS spoiler is not 745i specific! No intercooler vent or cool air scoop for the turbo. I bet it runs like crap with it on there. $6500 my ass! It may be a $3000 car if the obvious is really all that is wrong with it.
