Here's what I posted on another forum. If you have a competent guy (like Ben Thongsai who built mine or Brett Anderson) build you an E34 Touring with this engine and tranny swap, plus you find a decent wrecked E34 535i 5spd and 525i Touring for the swap, the project will get to $10K in a hurry. That's with no fun mods to the project along the way, and mine has a lot of them. So $14K seems like a lot, but I'm willing to talk if someone is seriously interested and makes me an offer. Pm or email at adw256 at gmail dot com.

I have $19K in to the car including the conversion. Specs:
--New Jersey BMW fleet car the first part of its life (I'm guessing less than 5 years), then California the rest of the time until March 2007)
--188K on chassis
--250K on engine, but engine was fully rebuilt with new everything except pistons and main bearings. Rod bearings replaced, all new seals, new clutch (E28 535i), head redone with new rockers, Alpina B10 m30b35 camshaft, Schnitzer chip, new water pump, all new belts and hoses, new head gasket, new oil pump, new timing chain components. Engine leaks zero oil.
--car has NO rust I can find anywhere. It could use some quality time with a dent wizard person because of door dings. Paint is o.k., but chalky? Could use time with an orbital and waxing I guess.
--hood and front fenders (probably bumper as well) replaced at some point. Carfax shows a minor front end collision a few years ago. The guy who did the 535i and 5spd conversion said it was repaired very well, probably by a BMW body shop paid for by insurance. Fenders and hood have DOT-R stickers
--E12 5-series flywheel (16 pounds I believe) so no dual-mass flywheel any longer.
--Racing Dynamics steering wheel
--850ci four piston brembo front brakes with brand new rotors and Hawk ceramic pads
--E34 M5/540i vented rear brakes with new rotors and Hawk ceramic pads
--new rear subframe bushings, front thrust arms and 750iL bushings 3K miles ago
--UUC short-shift kit
--E34 M5 17x8 wheels without covers included in sale. 235/45/17 Bridgestone S03 tires
--E38 7-series 16x8 basketweaves with Nokian RSi snow tires
--H&R springs with self-leveling rear, Bilstein HD fronts, 3mm spring pads up front
--A/C blows cold, works fine
--Hella smoked euro ellipsoids with McCulloch HID kit installed, city lights wired in
--smoked corners up front, VHT niteshades painted on rear turn signals
--euro E34 bumper trim front and rear (no side markers)
--Redline in the diff and tranny
--LSD rear end (original ratio from the E34 535i donor)
--E34 M5 Touring rear sway bar
Issues
--fan doesn't work on speed 1 for HVAC. I replaced that blue relay in the bmwe34.net faq, but it still didn't fix it
--I just repaired the wiring breaks in the rear hatch. Still can't get rear buttons to work for glass and hatch
--as mentioned, has some door dings
--sunroof works, but is slow and squeaks
--exhaust isn't loud, but might need replacement in another year or two
--driver side back door handle needs to be replaced. Half of the plastic handle is broken off.
