It doesn't appear to have been repainted in an original color - it looks too bright to be Burgundy Metallic. A later car in immaculate condition with a high quality repaint of the original color and much lower mileage might draw this kind of money, but this won't. Then again, the word "classic" starts floating around and everybody thinks they have the next Bugatti.

It probably looks too bright for burgundy because it's not. It's Zinnoberrot - which was available in 1985.

It looks like a nice car. Sure, it is unlikely to bring the 8500 price tag. It does make the California 535is for $1k less and completely original that much better of a deal.

Yea, I went back a bit further and found the swatch reference to Zinnoberrot - thanks. It STILL looks like it's off a bit to my eye - way too 'pink'. Or perhaps they repainted a different color specifically.

Unless you are looking at the car in person, you can't know for sure. Digital cameras can do funny things to reds - especially if the white balance is off.

Yea, that's true. I've just never seen one THAT far off before. I mean, it almost looks as if it's been oversprayed with a pink-toned clear.

Anyway, it's too much money IMO.

this car has been for sale for a year or so...i saw it on CL or autotrade several months back.....i don't get the feeling that they are "in tune" with the market very well.....it sounds like a genuine effort to improve (i.e., restore) the car was made, but not the way an knowledgable enthusiest would have done it.
