new member with M535i for consideration

Post by Morse »

Hi, I have recently joined in London with a lovely one previous owner M535i (August 1986) , put it on the M series register and have some nice pics. Car was unused in France for 6 years or so, and has been completely untouched. Had to change wheels and tyres for UK MOT test, plus a couple of minor electrical faults.

Jobs still needed: Outside air temp gives wild readings, uneven idle (worst at start-up), coolant light shows up even though radiator is full (slight leak has been fixed with rad weld); and finally noisy rear subframe mounts. Otherwise, she's a peach and I love her!

Just wondered what you guys think and if there is anything else I should do / add to this previously unfettered motor?

Hope that you can see the pics!

Nice find! I removed the brackets from your original pic links, so they are 'clickable' now below:

Looks good, just don't open the bonnet! ;) How many km's on it after all that storage? I've always liked the M535i and it looks like you've got a decent example to work with. Welcome aboard.

Thanks for your help there guys! I know that under bonnet is not too pretty - is there any value in steam clean / detail do you think? (I'm not too car proud for the bits that you don't see too often!) According to the limited paperwork / history I have, she has covered 106,000 miles - everything works well except the trip meter on the Odometer - is there an easy fix for that??

Posted another picture here of the interior / dash - just LOVE that style.......... :D

Changed this from a lovely 525e which got me hooked on the E28 in the first place - I miss that car, but I love the M535i more! (Would like it to be a full M5, but you never know - one day!)
