Hey guys...I made an upgrade to my cup holder situation. I still have the other one hidden in my armrest, but I thought this would work better. I designed and fabricated a bracket that I mounted to the side of the console. Made this from aluminum angle. The cup holder came out of a 2010 e81 135i. I formed it so that the cupholder would slip right into it. I covered the bracket with self-adhesive leather patch material. But I decided to use DAP contact glue to make sure it stayed in place. I pre-drilled the mounting holes so that it would not tear the leather during mounting. I added the BMW emblem from an old M-sport cap I had. My wife really likes it. I think it turned out nicely.
