New to me 1988 535i

Post by mtigerdds »

Hello all-

I picked this up over the weekend- an '88 535i

I'm not new to older Bimmers- I also have a 1973 e3 Bavaria.

This car has a BMP body kit, Euro glass headlights, Magnaflow stainless exhaust, coilers with H&R sport springs, and e34 calipers and rotors with braided lines.

My first orders of business are to repair the positive battery cable connections and figure why the low beams aren't working. The forum has been incredibly helpful thus far digging into relays and power to the pins, etc.

Welcome! Never seen the E28 BMP kit, it looks good! Always liked the E30 BMP body kit. And the E34 M5 wheels, euro headlights don't hurt either

Welcome and thanks for the pictures.
Was wondering myself for quite a while how the Throwing Star E34 Rims would look like on the E28, and I must say I love it!

Can I, as a German, ask why specifically a Berlin License Plate? Kinda looks like a rental car plate to me with the random combination on it 😅

Ha- no idea! It came with the car. It's held on with magnets as the previous owner didn't want to drill the bumper.

Thank you! I really like the way the car sits, etc. So far it's been a blast to drive.

The wheels aren't actually true throwing stars, they're just covers on 5-spoke wheels. The car did come with set of BBS wheels that could be refinished if I hang on to them.

I told Will I'd have it out to cars and coffee, but probably not the one coming up on the 15th since we already have something else going on.
