5 speed upgrade for m10

Hello! I have a 518i with the m10 engine and a 4 speed manual, looking to fit a 5 speed and was wondering what  Are my best options? I have read that the getrag 240 should fit the m10 engine, only that it is a bit longer so i whould need a new driveshaft also, also wondering if i whould need a new gear stick assembly or if the 4 speed whould Work? if anyone has some more info that whould be grate

I don't know anything about the swap, but I think your best chance for finding a 5 speed transmission would probably be in an e30 3 series car.  According to the e30 zone wiki, the 318is did use the Getrag 240.  https://www.e30zone.net/e30wiki/index.p ... Drivetrain
