Any Alternative E28 gear change set ups available ?

Have an 1985 manual getrag 260 gearbox in my Auto swapped  1982 car .    The guy who swapped it put a later  gear selector mechanism on  dare say off an E34  but now it's giving me issues . Are there any  alternatives that are a bolt on mod   ?

There's a shifter discussion in the FAQ section that should help.  viewtopic.php?t=72458.  Also click on the link in the first post, it takes you to the e28 wiki section that has additional information.  I believe that discussion mainly covers what factory BMW parts can be used, there are also aftermarket options - one I know of is the short shifter available from UUC but there are others: https://store.uucmotorwerks.com/bmw-catalog-c282.aspx  Also, shifters have likely been discussed many other times, use the search function at the top of the page to find them.
