A few questions regarding your superb Alpina B7 Turbo/1
1) Is there a BOV from the factory in the installation ?
2) Regarding the hood latches ( female parts), did you paint them, since they are galvanized parts from factory I think ? Or you had them re-dipped in zinc ?
3) Was the car dynoed ? Results ? Can you post graph ?
4) What is the engine oil temp reading on the Alpina digital gauge when at operating temperature ?
5) What type of gear oil do you prefer for the Getrag 265 ?
6) Can you explain the functioning of the Ladedruck ( boost control ) knob between the seats ?
Thank you!
Sorry for the delayed reply Montreal, I haven’t been on the forum in a while.
1. No blow off valve from me or the factory, just a waste gate.
2. I zinc coated the latches then dipped in clear/light blue chromate. Not stock but I like the look and it’s very subtle and won’t rust.
3. Not dynoed.
4. From memory, I believe it reads 85C at temp. Next time I drive it I’ll check and correct if this is wrong.
5. I use ATF.
6. It’s been a while since I’ve had the boost apparatus apart but it regulates the air pressure to either side of the diaphragm in the waste gate and thereby regulating turbo boost.
Thank you for the reply!
Do you know the valve specs ( gaps ) ? Are they the same as a regular M30B35 engine ?
Is there a reason you are not using 75W90 GL4 transmission oil ? Did you have recommendations regarding using ATF ?

Just watched M3nameisjosh youtube video last night, the SC Alpina event looked pretty amazing!
AlpinaPat, the event was beyond amazing. 3 of us caravaned our Alpina's, my E28 B7 T/1 #116, Todd Howerton's White B9 E24 and Richard Vidic and his white B9 E28 to Greer from Cumming Ga. Got to meet with Carina Bovensiepen, Burkard's Granddaughter and Erik Ploss, Head of sales from Alpina for insight on Alpina Classic and lots of love for us Classic Alpina owners. The museum exhibit was incredible with all the Alpina's under one roof and the 26 Driver cars that showed up was simply incredible. 3 yes 3 E28 B7 Turbo/1s showed up. Then the BMW SC factory Skunk Works Alpina XB7 assembly line tour was off the charts 600+hp of sweetness! Wrapped up with Vintage...I met up and spoke to more Bimmer NUTZ than I have ever met over one weekend including Tom here. He wished he brought #106 (we agree, ours are sister cars). It should have been in the museum IMHO. Tom if you remember that paint you used for the Alpina motor parts let me know...it is a dark grey/silver hammered finish from the factory. I have tried to match it with every known Grey/Silver hammered finish to no prevail...
