Center Console Vent Repair

Post by DavidE9 »

I've tried JB, Testors and Zap to repair my Center Console Vent but none have worked to reattached a couple cracked "vanes".  Have any of you found a glue that will work on this plastic ?

TIA

Haven’t tried on this part but I have total success with other car and household related items that use this type of plastic.

It is manufactured by Loctite (Henkel)
Super Glue 0.21 oz Plastic 2 Part Binding All Plastic All Materials Clear Tubes

Home Depot Online wants to sell you a six pack for $22 but you can get it yourself in person for $5 plus tax

Easily recognizable because it comes in two separate tiny purple painted tubes.

If you follow instructions to the letter you’ll be successful too.

depending on where those vanes are cracked out, and how thick they are, you might try welding instead of glueing.

Got myself a "plastic-welding-gun" last year and already fixed a couple of things in my E28 with it, like the  side hinges of the ashtray lid which has been rock solid since, various plastic covers on my seats and also the "brush-inlay" of the center console / around the handbrake which, judging by its looks, had been glued atleast 5 times over the past 30 years...

Just bought the cheaptes china crap on amazon, but it's doing its job great

Maybe for reference of what Im talking about

The area I needed to fix is too small for that plastic welder tool, but that looks pretty cool so its only a matter of time until I get one. The 2 Part Loctite Glue did the trick. Great stuff. Thanks for the tip !
