I got my dream car like 1.5 years ago, and been working on her renovation ever since.
I thought it was a deal and hey, how hard could it be? Just remove the LPG stuff, get this and that done, some body work and paint job and there you are. Turned out it wasn't a deal, even though the price was just a little more than free.

Install a new gas tank, gas pump and gas line, adjust cylinder pressures, clean injectors over and over again, replace the 4 speed gearbox that came on the car with a 5 speed from godknowswhere, install a windshield wiper motor from a Fiat and crack the windshield during the process, install an alternator of a VW, cut out rusty body parts and replace with sheet metal, replace rear doors, make new upholstery and paint saphirblau, just to find out it looks more silver than saphirblau.
Well, I'm not the DIY guy most of you are. My capabilities don't go beyond fixing Dual turntables from the seventies, and it's pretty to hard to find a guy who's willing to lay hands on a 43 year old car, so this story has been a PIA most of the time. But it's over now. Well, kind of.
Now that it's a daily drive, I'm facing new issues, but they are easier to deal with, like this neverending speedometer problem or random check unit lights.
Oh, a friend of a friend turned out to be a beamer tuning guy, and my 525 was still lying in the garage if it weren't for him. He installed a custom gear and a sensor to count the revs in front of the crank, all with an external ecu, and ignition coils on each cylinder and that finally put me behind the wheel.
Will be bugging the board from time to time, but I'll do the searching first. You weren't aware, but I've been hanging around for quite some time to pull that.
Cheers.
