Checking grounds.. G200 appears to be ok..
HOWEVER..
The onboard computer wasn't attached to anything - just rattling around - figured out how it's mounted fairly quickly. Was hoping to find a fuse for the OBC (someone said there was one by the kick panel) as it's not currently working ..
Couple of things - circled in red is a connector hanging in space.. the female side is there as well - something was connected at one time and removed and not nicely - but what?
Just below this there is a 2 pin (black connector) not used part of the OCB harness as well
Something suppose to be on the bracket above the foot rest? (green circle)
That bracket is where the interior temp sensor is supposed to go. There's also supposed to be a hole in your knee panel for it. Follow the black and blue hose into that yellowish transparent tube I pointed out earlier. That is the vacuum hose that connected to that sensor. And i'm pretty sure the 3 cut wires are for the same sensor as well. My car also has a hanging black connector that doesn't plug into anything. So far I don't know what it does. I tried plugging it into that big cluster above your red circle and my car wouldn't start.

That might have been me. On E23 733s (2 of which I had) the OBC control unit was in the kick panel but I wasn't sure about E28s. Anyway, look inside that silver box with the yellow connector for a fuse.

I'll put it on the list to sort out just wanted to make sure I'm not missing something - looks as someone in the past couldn't just unplug the connector - its just ripped off what ever sensor was there..
Meaning that HVAC will not work at all or automatic climate control will not work?
maybe find one at a wreckers?
A/C is something thats on the list - the pump has no belt and the system appears to be intact but obvously not working - I'll need to check system integrity and the pump. That will be another post at some point.
That white connector should not be too hard to trace. On my '85 I have 3 connectors that piggy back each other on the steering column. Looks like you have 2. If the harnesses are similar, that is where I would start to identify it's original mount and purpose. Also the colors of the wires going in to the harness should match the colors coming out. Do a wide search radius and find unaccounted for yellow and blue.

When I got my E28, it was also missing the sensor. AC worked, with the compressor running permanently. I then replaced the evap temp sensor, and the compressor would then cycle. Eventually, I found the interior temp sensor and I could then adjust the AC to be "not so cold". Before that, I had to turn the temperature knob to Max to disengage the compressor.
Also, note there exists an interior sensor for cars without AC (2 pins only). Dont buy that one.
