Bad fuel Filter

This thing was in a bike my son purchased. Long saga of PO and then he and I trying to fix the thing including a recall. I finally found this piece of crap in the tank as it came from the factory. Suppose the plastic was almost sealed when new but plastics creep and the leak probably grew and fuel pressure went down until the thing just wouldn't run right anymore.

A new metal filter I got at work for $1, employee price solved basically every issue this bike ever had. Runs fantastic now.

Not like that, but I had an E21 long ago where the aluminum fuel filter split at the crease by the end. That one was real easy to troubleshoot, it didn't run but lots of gas on the ground and very strong odor. It was fine one day and the next it blew.
