My first West Coat lesson...

Keep a full tank of gas. This weekend I made the trek to Hollywood to do some sightseeing. On the way back to Huntington, the fuel light came on. No biggie right? I figured I'd just pass a few exits & get off 'where it looked like a safe area' to find some petro. No big deal right? Getting to the gas station wasn't too bad. Getting back to the freeway via gps was a nail biter. I've been to some rough areas, but something about this spot had me on alert. I think it was around 6th & Euclid. Let's just say for the first time I was happy to be back in bumper to bumper traffic once on the freeway.

I had that same experience in Gary Indiana about 25 years ago .
I expected a wonderful place just because of the musical, The Music Man. Holy crap, I couldn't get turned around quick enough and get back on the Interstate. Running out of gas anywhere would be better than where I was.

I started in Irvine, took my GF's Mom to work, then got lost going back the house, because I didn't have my glasses (barely needed them at the time). I almost ended up in San Diego. I kept thinking there must be a gas station in a few blocks...

I have a theory.
If you get out to check belts or change a tire, it depends on the amount of MD-20 bottles that are strewn about. Many=Outta There!
If you see an abundance of empty King Cobra 40oz, that means Kyle is nearby and you can cuddle if he pretends to not know what's wrong

That is EXACTLY how Gary, Indiana looked when I went through there, people standing around on the sidewalk...the only difference was Michael Jackson wasn't there...

I would much rather be in Boyle Heights than Gary. In fact, when I was a kid, we used to go to Sears Roebuck all the time. The building is still there...
