I did a search and came up with some conflicting info on the placement of the rear badge. Can someone with an unmolested trunk clarify the measurements? Danke schön!

For the ///M, bottom edge 22 mm up from the lower edge of the trunk lid and 51 mm from the right edge of the to the right edge of the. Since it is both right edges, you gotta know what that means.

Does everyone that might be able to help you know specifically which model car you want to identify? Might want to add that little tidbit. Having that info in this thread with that title should make it easy for folks to find all the model numbers in one place. Not documented are the € cars and the M5. Being here, it is either the M535i or the M5, both not in the manual. The M for the € M535i is there but not the US modified dealer bought m slapped on in front of the 535.

I’m guessing the factory had some kind of jig to place the badges but there was probably a fair amount of variation from car to car even with the jig.
I’m going to bring a micrometer to St Paddy’s and measure all the M5s.
I'm pretty dismayed that the 100k mile car which I thought had to be original due to the seemingly 27 year patina seems to be wildly out of spec. Just to add a little more info to the thread I measured the salvage M5 too.
The "6" even looks crooked on the back-cover shot (left-side leaf, top page of scan). Maybe it's a rumply scan? But you are right - even the factory brochure shows variance in the gaps.....
