M30B35 trigger wheel

Post by dan101smith »

I'm currently looking at options for standalone management on my M88/3. One of the issues common to all the solutions I'm looking at is the standard twin-sensor setup for the engine speed and TDC pickups, and that it would need to be converted to a single sensor solution.

To that end, does anyone know either way whether the M30B35 trigger wheel would fit the crank of the M88/3? My understanding is that this is what's retrofitted in order to run Motronic 1.3 on an M30B34.

I would use something like a AEM EPM (engine position module http://www.aemelectronics.com/products/ ... module-epm ) and fabricate a mount to go in place of the distributor cap and rotor. It will give you 24 pulses and a separate single pulse for every 360 degree of rotation (720 deg crank rotation). With this you can run individual coils and sequential injection. If you just run a crank trigger wheel you will need to run either a distributor and single coil or wasted spark ignition and you will need to batch fire your injectors. You could use the crank trigger wheel but you would still need a cam sensor to give you TDC #1 if you want sequential injection.
