Steering Wheel: Grip Royal vs. Nardi

Looking to replace the standard 535 wheel (which feels like im driving a tractor) with a nardi or Grip Royal (GR). I know nardi will be a quality wheel and i like the period correctness. But at 160 a pop GR doesnt seem bad at all. Should i save the money and get the GR or wait it out until i can afford a nardi.

I've never used a GR wheel. But I've heard mixed opinions. If you're looking for a an aftermarket wheel and can't afford a nardi, take a look at Renown wheels. They make a quality product, and its catered to old BMWs. I have one in my e28.

I've got a Victor (Italian-made) wheel in my E24, which it came with. After a bit more than a year, still not sure if I like the way it looks, but it feels great.

I would definitely wait around for a Nardi. 360mm, black center, black horn ring and black leather has me drooling every time!

e30 Mtech 1 370mm wheel is my favorite. The right look, feel and size.

I bought a Nardi, looked at some Grip Royals but they just look cheap. Can't beat the quality of a Nardi. Got the Deep Corn wood grain with black spokes, love it.

stay far away from Grip royal . I had mine break like a pencil when I slammed on the brakes trying to avoid a cat. All they are is Chinese pot metal with a someone's company name . Nardi , momo , otp , brands like that are made with quality and last forever. I've got a momo indy from 1983 on my car . Not one mark , looks great still after all these years

That's pretty damn scary. I agree about the top-quality of the Italian-made steering wheels. I've got a Momo that's almost 30 years old and has been on several cars. The leather still looks like new, and I've done nothing to it except drive with it.

Santa got me a Nardi Mahogany black center deep corn wheel for Christmas. I really like the dark wood. I hear a lot of people say nay to wooden steering wheels in a E28, but to each their own.

I'd say either Momo or Nardi for aftermarket. Or MTech if you're sticking with a BMW wheel. I chose Nardi just because you don't see too many of them.
