I've found http://www.fcpeuro.com to be the most competitive on pricing as well as having a good selection of quality parts. Delivery with free shipping is always faster than stated (at least for me on the east coast).

www.ecstuning.com is a very good site. search by part number. I had blunt price match them and fcpeuro had alot of parts for much higher then ecstuning.

The last two you really have to be careful of and make sure it's the right thing but sometimes both have just screaming deals. Blunttech is a regular contributor here too, so that's worth keeping in mind. No one place is best all the time.

-GetBMWParts.com (Silver Springs BMW, MD)
(These are real BMW dealers and are the closest in pricing on what we used to get from the Da Parts Pimp (Brian in TN at Chattanooga BMW). They usually track in pricing close to each at about 30% off list, however Passport beats out Silver Springs by a couple of % across the board.)

(The last two are good for basic replacement parts (Bosch Ignition, Behr Cooling parts, etc. You can special order parts through Pelican but the prices aren't anywhere near what the Passport and Silver Springs can do. Usually if AutoHaus has the part, they will beat Pelican sometimes hands down and will ship fast.)

(You have to check this site often, you can find some really good deals every now and then. My last purchase was for Brembo brake rotors for both the M535 and the E39; they were something like $25 each. They mostly have the lesser OEM supplier stuff, but depending on the part and if you're in a pinch, it might be worth it.)

(BluntTech will give you the personal service Brian and Steve Haygood used to give and are great supporters of this site and its' associated events. Since Steve Blunt doesn't always list current pricing on their website, if you want current up to date pricing and availability you have to email them. They will respond promptly, but when you're sitting at your computer at 1am going through a spreadsheet on your next project, it's not always convenient. Maximilian does have the reputation of being very slow in order fulfillment and shipping. In comparison, each of these two track at about 20% off list.)

(Don't dismiss BavAuto as they have a price match guarantee on OE parts. I haven't tried this yet against Passport's pricing, maybe I will do as test. They also have been getting better about carrying and advertising the part makers (Meyle, Lemfoerder, etc.) lately).

(Probably the best source for suspension parts from MeyleHD and Lemfoerder. I haven't priced anything else.)

The PNPC site is absolutely amazing. For years now, I have longed for the "good ol' days" when I only ordered from Hendrick Imports, from a guy who know his parts and never sent me the wrong thing. But alas, today parts are made anywhere. Even dealer parts can be plastic crap (ever need a coolant overflow tank for an E39?) made in Eastbuttfuckia.

Unlike the good ol' days, one can never be quite sure what MSRP is on parts anymore. I have felt at the mercy of dealerships all over the country. One charges 15% over an already inflated-over-10% MSRP locally. Another local dealer never has any parts on hand. And yet others will charge outrageous money for shipping, and never count on them if you need the part this weekend. And of course, you don't know what you're going to encounter with regards to the quality of parts, particularly if you take a chance and buy from an aftermarket supplier. I recently got burned there.

This PNPC site rocks. Thank you SO much for posting it. The Wagner site is pretty good, too.

A couple thoughts: does anyone know how some of the dealerships mentioned in PNPC rate in terms of inventory? Or speed of shipping? I would love to see an enhancement to this tool that would allow you to search based on zipcode, since having the ability to know how near the part is would be helpful if it is not a special order. I know when I used the BMW system directly, I could determine where the nearest dealership with the part was. That was slick. Thanks again!!

Crap that program is amazing. It takes me hours to go through and update my parts order spreadsheet; this is going free up a lot time considering it makes a spreadsheet for you.
Maybe enough time that I might actually do the work instead of just masturbating over prices in Excel .

Larger dealers usually have more parts in stock. The BMW warehouses around the country allow them to get parts in less than a week. If not in USA stock, they come from Germany in a week or two. No shipping charges to the dealerships or passed to the buyer.
The MSRP is readily determined, but like garageboy said, prices are over the place depending on the dealer markup and discounts. Many have an internet sales dept. Passport in MD (mybimmerparts.com) often beats Tischer/BMW of Silver Spring and they're just around the beltway from each other. Huskerparts.com in NE has great pricing as well. The shipping & handling fees can make a good deal go bad quickly. It's nice to have a local dealer that will give you internet pricing.

Just ran across this thread and wanted to say thanks for mentioning the BMW PNPC tool!

A lot of good vendors mentioned here already, and that price comparison tool is a project of mine I started a year or so ago and has come a long way since then, largely in part by others' feedback, suggestions, and ideas.

I’m more active on other forums, and here’s a list of all the threads I make announcements on and try to stay on top of elsewhere (there's about 7 in total): www.bmwpnpc.com/#forums.

Will likely start a thread over in General after the next major update, if there's enough interest. Am adding some additional vendors, a few layout changes, and most importantly, finally coming out with a Mac version. Should hopefully have everything finished up in a couple weeks, time permitting.

It's been a fun project, am excited to see where things go, and would be more than happy to answer questions anyone has about the tool here, as well.

Garageboy, I like the idea of being able to isolate vendors closest to you and actually started plotting everything on a map once, mainly out of curiosity. I didn’t take that very far since some of the non-dealer vendors drop ship from all over the U.S. Would be easy to show locations for dealerships, but not sure if I could take into account the vendors that ship from multiple warehouses, or be able to say with any certainty whether a part was in the warehouse closest or one further out. There might be too many unknowns to implement that successfully, although I think that's a great idea. If I can ever figure something out with that, I'd love to include it as an option.

Regarding dealership inventory levels, BMW of Fairfax is supposedly one of the largest stocking BMW dealers on the east coast. Have read a lot of good things about them from people who pick up locally, and have heard that their parts inventory is distributed across three different buildings/locations close to their main parts department. I'm sure there are other dealerships with similar setups that also sell online, but BMW of Fairfax is the first one that comes to mind.

Thank you! Glad you like the Excel template, and that's actually one of the more recent additions. Currently, that's also my attempt to handle multiple part numbers. Would like to integrate that into the tool at some point, just need to find the time.

So far for original parts I've found the the website of my local dealer (BMW of Morristown) is THE cheapest for original parts. Just ordered a trunk seal and the price is $52 for the original part! It isn't listed in their website so here is the link:

And I just pick the parts up when they arrive so I save the shipping! They are not good at updating the status so you might need to call them to verify that they arrived. The parts guy already knows me! They asked me once if I restore BMW's since I was buying parts frequently.

I'm a simple dirty Perl programmer, and I have great respect for folks like you that can bang out useful stuff like this because you could give me a thousand monkeys and typewriters and I could never create like this. The main reason I was curious about the distance thing is that I guess from my experiences over the years, I still draw a thick line between parts from a dealer and those from the OEM/OES/Aftermarket suppliers. Every time I let those lines get blurred I seem to get burned, parts-wise. So I still see value in the ability to go somewhere... like a dealership... like RIGHT NOW... to get the part I need, as opposed to mail ordering it and possibly getting it as soon as tomorrow, but possibly not.

BMW of Morristown is definitely on my hit-list. As jimoreno points out, they are the lowest around (to NYC). And if I can just pick it up, that would be my preference, even if I order today and pick up tomorrow.

I wouldn't count on next day pickup for E28 parts at BMW of Morristown. Typically is about three days after the order (if they are available at a warehouse somewhere in the US) or like I just got told today, three to five weeks (parts coming from Germany). For newer cars they do have a good inventory though.

Regarding your $52 trunk seal, I got mine from bavauto.com for $44.95.

They have a decent selection, not huge like some of the others. But good prices, IMO.

Thank you for the kind words! I don’t know what to say other than you’re very welcome and hope it saves you a good amount of time and money. It’s done so considerably for me and glad to be able to share it!

Wish there was a place I could walk into and find all the parts/brands we’re used to buying at a halfway decent price, and envious of you local guys that are able to do so. Almost all of my parts orders are online, so shipping plays a big role, as does customer service. After enough transactions, something will inevitably get hung up in the purchase/shipping/warranty process and it's nice to have quality people to work with when that happens.
