WTB: Driver's seat for an E28

Post by garageboy »

Hi all.

In fact, I am also looking for suggestions here. But first, as seems so often required, here is what I am NOT looking for:
- your entire interior
- your driver's seat that by all measure, should simply be tossed out
- in case that wasn't clear, if the seat is so loose and torn up that it is dangerous, I will not be purchasing your stuff that should be thrown out. Please don't ask me to.
- your concours class M-cloth covered one-of-a-kind seat; this car doesn't warrant it.

I race the E28 in the winter. I have a few co-drivers. I am big. One of them is much bigger. Possibly two of them (I have big friends, what can I say). When I saw one of them jump in the car to take his run, I watched the entire seat flex and I almost shit.

I am looking for preferably a manual seat that I can install for the one month a year when we're ice racing. It can be a comfort seat; it can be a sport seat. It can be cloth, leatherette, or leather (actually would prefer NOT leather). It can be any color. And finally, it must accommodate the stock 3-point seatbelt.

And here's where the request for suggestions. If there is some other type of seat, like a Recaro, that I could consider, I would be willing to. I doubt it since those, new, are $800 and I would be happy to spend no more than, say, $100, and would be happier to spend far less if I could. But perhaps there is something I can use for those few weekends a year that I race it so that I don't have to abuse the original seats (pictured in my sig).

Thank you in advance for your ideas!

I've got a power black comfort in leatherette. I also have the matching passenger seat. I also have the rear. I also have a mustache, but that too is irrelevant.

I have an idea.

I've often thought that magnets imbedded in a NASCAR track with magnets under the race cars could power a small city.
What a waste of NRG.

Bump for virality... or is it vitality? Or is it virility? Or triviality?
